Captain Francis Forester

President 1889-1926

The nephew of H.G.V.Vane (4^th Duke of Cleveland) and as such inherited the Bathwick Estate and other Somerset properties in 1891. He sold the Recreation Ground to The Bath and County Recreation Ground Company for £6,050.00. As well as an interest in Rugby  Football he was a keen amateur jockey. Not known to have played.

As owners of the Bathwick Estate various members of the Vane family (who adopted the name Powlett by marriage at a later date) used their  names  when properties were developed in Bathwick. Hence Powlett Road,  Forester Road, Avenue and Lane. and Rockliffe Road and Avenue after Rockliffe Park Darlington a previous residence of Capt. Forester.
