Career details:

Zimbabwean born Scott Gray joined Bath Rugby for the start of the season 2003/2004 from Australian rugby league side the Brisbane Broncos. Prior to playing the thirteen-man code, Scott was contracted to the ACT Brumbies Development Squad and played his club rugby for Easts in Canberra, and appeared for Zimbabwe under-21. Indeed, Scott made such an impression during his stay in Australia that he was invited to train with the Australian under-21 side, even though he was ineligible to play. The 6ft 3”, 15st 11lb flanker featured early on as a replacement in that position despite making his Bath Rugby debut as a replacement for Matt Perry at full back in the 44-32 victory over Leeds Tykes at Headingley. Scott’s first try for the club came seven days later in the 24-6 home defeat of Northampton Saints. Patience was a virtue for Scott and he finally claimed a full start in December 2003 at flanker as Bath routed Italian minnows L’Aquila 75-11 in the Parker Pen Challenge Cup match. He followed that up by appearing in the starting XV a week later in the return leg at the Recreation Ground. At the end of the 2003/2004 season with Gareth Delve fully recovered from injury and the highly-rated Chris Goodman in the squad chances appeared to be limited for Scott and he therefore looked elsewhere for first team opportunities, signing for Scottish side Borders in July 2004.
