This Crewkerne farmer gave sterling service to the Bath Club, and he was deeply respected for his rugby prowess. He was a solid scrummager and a formidable contestant in the line-outs. His off-field gentle nature, and soft Somerset accent, belied his formidable competitive edge on the field.

Represented Somerset on many occasions and served on the County Management Committee for many years.
