Achievements: Played in the Varsity Matches of 1970, 1971 and 1973 for Oxford.

Honours: Welsh Secondary Schools

Debut game: 3rd September 1975 v Taunton

Final game: 22nd April 1978 v Newport

Number of Appearances: 58

Career details: A schoolmaster by profession he taught Chemistry and Maths at Wycliffe College, Glos. and Dean Close School, Cheltenham.

Due to injury Ian did not play in 1972 and 1974 Varsity matches.
