At the age of 15, one of the founder members of the Bath Club in 1865.  Frank was the first member of the Bath Club to gain international honours (in 1872) although not as a Bath player.

Commissioned on 1^st December 1870, he completed his training at the School of Military Engineering at Chatham. Promoted to Major on 1^st April 1889, D’Aguilar rose to Senior Engineer 3^rd class in the Punjab and in February 1896  was listed as Senior Engineer of the Sirhind and Lahore Circle, Military Works department, Meean Mear. Within 4 months he was back in England on leave, presumably because of ill health, as he died in Bath on 24^th July 1896 aged 46.

Major Francis Burton Grant D’Aguilar, Royal Engineers and later Bath, was capped for England against Scotland in a 20 a side International in 1872. Educated at Cheltenham College, he did his Army training at Chatham and was an all round sportsman. He represented the Royal Engineers at Cricket and in 1871 took 4 wickets against the Gentlemen of the MCC and 5 wickets on several occasions. He also represented the Regiment at soccer and is recorded as having a memorable game against Crystal Palace. It should be remembered that the R.E.’s won the F A Cup in 1875. He was decorated for service in the 1878-80 Afghan War.
