EXTRACTS FROM THE 1896 MINUTE BOOK BATH FOOTBALL CLUB.
The Executive Committee met at the Royal United Hospital on Monday 13th April at 8pm.
Present Mr J.E. Henshaw In the Chair T.N.M Parham, G.G. Vincent, A Florian W Sants
J. B. S D’Agular J.W. Hooper C. Gilliy F.J. Parham (Hon Sec).
A Sub Committee met on April 9th and discussed Bath 1st Players receiving Club caps .I was agreed at this meeting that players would receive 1st Team caps who played regularly including trial matches for 1895-1986 season also the 1896-1897 season. This motion was carried and seconded by Mr W Sants.
The matter of a missing walking stick arose. The Sub Committee asked for the matter to be discussed and an enquiry made regarding a walking stick. Mr Compton of Carlton R.F.C. (Bristol) had made the request.
It was discovered that Mr Bence (Bath player) had borrowed the stick to lend to Mr Gooding , who had injured his ankle. By chance he heard via the team captain that the stick was missing and returned it to the club.
It was proposed by J.W. Hooper that Ruddick be paid £5 from the insurance fund for compensation for accidents in the Barton on Trent & Penarth matches 24thDec & Feb29 1896. The motion carried.
It was also agreed that a sum of not exceeding 10shillings be paid to Sheppard from the insurance fund. A doctor’s certificate for disablement would need to be produced. This matter was left in the hands of the Treasurer.
Mr Hooper reported that he had seen Mr Berryman of the Angel Hotel, regarding the baths for visiting teams to wash, but could not get a satisfactory answer from him.
It was proposed by Mr Parham and seconded by w Sants that Bristol referees be paid a subscription of Ten Shillings and Sixpence. Motion carried.
Hon Sec. Write to Chepstow F C and offer them a guarantee of £5 to play a match in bath on December 19th.
Treasurer requested to have accounts complete as soon as possible, then call a meeting of the executive committee to set a date for the AGM.
It was proposed by T.N. Parham seconded By Mr Hooper that J.E. Henshaw and I. Freeman be empowered to settle with the Recreation Ground Company their proportion of the gate money taken at the guarantee matches.
Bills to be paid Willis and sons 11shillings and six pence. R Fisher (dinner table) £9 5.
