Jack Rowell OBE

Born 1937. President 2007-2009

Jack Rowell was Head Coach between 1978 and 1994.

He described his tenure with the club as “a fascinating trip of a lifetime”.

Educated at Oxford University Jack was the coach justifiably credited with producing some of the finest teams ever to be fielded by Bath. He had an uncanny ability of getting the best out of individual players. Whilst he was the coach Bath secured ten wins in the John Player Special and Pilkington Cup Competitions and five League Championships.  In the 1994-95 season Jack was appointed Team Manager of the England XV and his record of 21 wins from 29 games was the most successful coaching record of a national coach. Jack had played for and subsequently coached Gosforth RFC taking them to success in the John Player Special Cup in 1976 and 1977.

As well as being a fine coach he was also a very successful business man being a Chairman, CEO and Director of some well known public companies mainly in the food industry.
