Career details:
Combative USA international Dan Dorsey arrived at the Rec. along with fellow Eagles prop Mike MacDonald for a trial period at the beginning of 2001/2002. Proving his worth on the club’s pre-season tour of Ireland (where he did not play, but did well in training), Dorsey was duly signed and made his first team debut in the 17-31 defeat to Bristol at the Memorial Ground, coming on as a second half substitute for Simon Emms. Dan went on to make four more appearances (all as a replacement) in matches against Swansea, Biarritz and Llanelli in Europe and NEC Harlequins in the Zurich Premiership. Dan did his best to impress and indeed, even suffered the ignominy of being sent to the sin bin after receiving a yellow card in the fixture with Swansea at St. Helens. It’s rather ironic then that the South Wales club should be where he ended up playing in the 2002/2003 season after Bath released him from the payroll. While with Bath Rugby he gained the first of his international caps as a replacement against South Africa in 2001 and followed that honour up by gaining a starting place for the matches with Scotland, and Canada (twice). Dan latterly enjoyed a spell in the Premiership with the Rotherham Titans.
