Career details:

French flanker Benoit Durand made only three appearances for Bath Rugby in season 1997/1998 after having signed for the club from crack French side Toulouse whilst studying at Bath University. His debut in the famous Bath jersey came in a 60-15 midweek thumping of Oxford University at the Recreation Ground in a back row alongside Scottish international Eric Peters and Steve Ojomoh. The youngster, despite an athletic ability that saw him rampage around the field, was unlikely to knock any of the more established players out of the first team and had to be contented with a run in the United side, plus two further appearances in first team friendly matches. Durand started in the games against both Tonga and ACT at the Rec. (both defeats) before slipping out of contention and never playing for Bath again. Benoit took this in his stride though and re-ignited his career back in his native France with Auch, going on to win international caps for Belgium.
