Played rugby and cricket for Colston School teams

When he returned to Bath in 1926 he played for Bathampton RFC where he was spotted by Frank Cashnella. In the following season he was given a trial as a wing threequarter for the Bath 1st XV.

Charlie gained his Bath cap in the 1927/28 season

Charlie was a player who took his rugby seriously, trained hard and systematically was one of those who tried to think things out.

Charlie was slight in build for a centre and this stood in the way of him gaining higher honours.

Prominent member of the Bath and County Athletic Club and a regular player in the Bath A cricket team
