Career details:

Front row man Mark Regan first played rugby for Keynsham Minis before eventually  joining  Bristol where he made 120 appearances. He joined Bath at the start of the 1997/1998 season, shortly after returning from being a member of the successful 1997 British Lions tour to South Africa where he played in the third test. He will forever be remembered on that tour as the man who had a fight with Barry Williams of Wales on the Living with Lions video! A hard-hitting abrasive player in and around the fringes of the scrum, Mark was lauded as a cult hero during his time at the Rec. The hooker made his Bath debut in a 13pts-20pts home defeat to Newcastle Falcons in August 1997, going on to clock up 132 appearances, for the return of nine tries, four of which came in a prolific 1998/1999 season. ‘Ronnie,’ as he was popularly known, was capped 46 times by England and scored three tries, against Italy and Romania in 2001 and against Georgia in the 2003 Rugby World Cup, after making his full international debut in 1995 against South Africa. Previously he had been a mainstay of the England ‘A’ international set-up having progressed through the ranks from the England under-16, under-18, Students, Colts and under-21 sides. He left the club after being granted a release from his contract in August 2002 and rejoined former Bath Rugby head coach Jon Callard at Leeds Tykes. Mark was awarded the MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in 2004 after his part in the 2003 Rugby World Cup success.
