EXTRACTS OF A COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT 4 BATH STREET AUGUST 19TH 1898
PRESENT Messers Henshaw (Chair) Sants, T.N.M Parham. F. Derrick. Davis. Florain & T.J. Parham.
The Chairman reported that he had again written to the Hon Sec of the Clifton F.C and that up to date he had received no answer to his letter. It was agreed that the correspondence re the late arrival of Clifton F.C upon the occasion of the match with them on our ground, be type written and forwarded to the Rugby Union by the chairman.
It was reported that Catford Bridge F.C had agreed to play a match at Bath on Easter Monday 1899 and to accept a guarantee of £12 =.
The offer of the Neath F.C to play a match in Bath for a guarantee of £15 was declined. Mr Derrick was asked to wire Neath F.C that we could not go beyond £12.
Guarantee Matches. It was agreed that a list of the guarantee matches for the season 1898-1899 should be handed to the Recreation Ground Company these guarantees to include Keble College match and the Neath F.C match in the latter case the amount left open.
It was resolved that Mr Dawson (Hon Treasurer) be requested to undertake the secretarial duties during the absence of Mr Piper (Hon Sec)
It was resolved that Mr Howard be instructed to replace one of the goal posts which Osman the Ground man reports to be rotten.
Tenders for supply of Jerseys Tenders and samples were received from M Gould &Sons , F Isacs, Crook & Sons and the Scotch wool and Hosiery Stores. The samples having been opened and numbered by the Chairman (the name of the tender being unknown) and carefully inspected by the committee, Mr Sants proposed and Mr Derrick seconded that the Black and Amber sample be OVO 3 and 6s/6d be accepted and that the tender be asked to supply 3 dozen Jerseys as pattern only with Royal Blue and Black Hoops 3” at once and he stock 3 dozen and supply to the club at the same price when required.
MR T.N. M. Parham proposed as an amendment and Mr Davis seconded that the Red and Black sample No3 at 5s/ be accepted only that the Jerseys supplied should be 6 dozen Royal Blue and Black hoops 3 with white linen collars and that these Jerseys be supplied at once ,Upon the Chairman putting the amendment and the proposition to the meeting the amendment of Mr Parham was carried by 4 votes to one.
The tenders were then opened and it was found that samples no 3 at 5/s was sent by Gould &Sons. It was recommended that 3 dozen Jerseys be ordered at once and that Mr Gould &Sons be asked to stock 3 dozen to be supplied to the club as required. The Chairman was requested to see Mr Gould &sons informing them that their tender had been accepted and to make the best terms he could as to supply of them.
